Aikido for children
For children from six to thirteen — every Thursday afternoon.

Children aged 6 to 9
Moving for the joy of it. That comes first in the children's groups. They learn to stand firmly, to move freely, to take the other into account, to work together. The classes consist largely of games, rolling, play-wrestling, having fun, meditation (which children find thrilling) and, quietly, learning the basics of aikido. Every six months the children give a presentation and receive a coloured tab to mark their progress. They become little samurai.
Children aged 10 to 13
These classes are for the serious practitioner. Through play they are trained into real aikidoka. Calm, resilience, flexibility and enjoyment are the values worked on.
They learn to deal with an attacker's force, to apply throwing and pinning techniques, and they train their reflexes.
