Grading requirements

Requirements per kyu and dan grade, for those preparing.

Gradings and aikido

There are two grading opportunities each year. Aikido gradings are meant to show the student’s development. To prepare well you can train the required techniques with a senior student on Sundays.

Kyu grades

The kyu grades run from the first grading for 6th kyu up to 1st kyu.

Dan grades

All dan grades are recognised by the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Japan. Dan gradings are taken by the head instructors under the supervision of Miles Kessler Sensei or Patrick Cassidy Sensei, during the annual seminar in Arnhem.

After a grading, feedback on the presentation is given in conversation.
